South Korea will provide chassis and engines for Polish Army for PLN 1.1 bln

On April 7, 2025, Poland's Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) and South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace signed a 1.1 billion PLN contract for 87 RK9 tracked chassis to be delivered between 2026–2028. These will serve as the base for the AHS Krab 155mm self-propelled howitzers—key assets in Poland’s artillery.
The RK9 is a modified version of the Korean K9Thunder chassis. The Krab project, initially plagued by reliability issues, succeeded after switching to the K9 chassis in 2014. Krabs have since been deployed to Ukraine, delaying domestic orders. However, large new contracts and planned local production signal a strong future—by the early 2030s, Poland could operate 268 Krabs alongside 672 Korean K9s.
