State wants to help support ArcelorMittal Poland steelworks in Dąbrowa Górnicza

ArcelorMittal Poland’s steel plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza, formerly Huta Katowice, may receive up to PLN 1 billion in government support for modernization. Talks with the Ministry of Finance aim to preserve steel production and jobs by upgrading one of the blast furnaces. The plant is a key employer in the region, supporting not only direct jobs but also local businesses.
Deputy Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty emphasized the importance of maintaining domestic steel production amid global tensions, arguing that relying on imports from countries with lower environmental standards is not a viable alternative. He also criticized the lack of a clear economic strategy and suggested that the Ministry of Industry’s performance may be reviewed within the ruling coalition.
