Statkraft Poland further developing energy storage capacity of 700 MW

Statkraft Poland has a portfolio of energy storage projects with grid connection conditions totaling nearly 700 MW. The company focuses on solar, onshore wind, and energy storage development in Poland. According to Country Manager Michał Smyk, green energy will expand rapidly in Poland, increasing the need for storage and grid balancing. Most of Statkraft's investments include co-located renewable installations and batteries.
The company emphasizes siting storage near critical grid points to support flexibility amid growing variable generation. Statkraft, a global leader in hydropower and Europe’s largest renewable energy producer, operates battery assets across the UK, Ireland, and Germany. Active in Poland since 2018, it brings international experience to help scale up the country’s early-stage storage market.
