Storm continues over teacher pay raises
The Ministry of National Education revealed how much teachers' salaries will increase. Meanwhile, teachers are not hiding their disappointment, as according to calculations by the Polish Teachers' Union (ZNP), the increase will not be as announced 'no less than PLN 1,500 gross', but less. The MEN project has sparked a huge storm on social media. According to ZNP calculations, beginner teachers will receive an increase of PLN 1218 gross, appointed teachers – PLN 1167, and certified teachers – PLN 1365.
This means that from March, beginner teachers will earn PLN 4908 gross, appointed teachers – PLN 5057 gross, and certified teachers – PLN 5915 gross.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and the Prime Minister's office are holding firm. On their social media, they indicate that 'the average salary, according to the Teacher's Charter, for a beginning teacher increases by PLN 1577, for an appointed teacher by PLN 1720, and a certified teacher by PLN 2198, as read on portal X.
