Survey: Poles choose cash during holidays

A survey by Wakacje.pl shows that 69% of Poles save for holidays throughout the year, spreading costs to avoid sudden financial strain. Only 7% fund trips with loans, while 12% consider doing so. Despite Poland’s lead in cashless payments, 79% prefer cash abroad—54% exchange it before departure, 25% on-site. By comparison, 32% use bank cards, 25% currency cards, 21% finance apps, and 13% digital wallets.
Over 57% treat holidays as a time of financial freedom, while one-third keep strict control of spending. Many spend 1,000–3,000 PLN on extras, with some investing over 5,000 PLN in luxury experiences. Price matters, yet 32% choose destinations for cultural appeal, showing Poles value balanced, well-planned travel over purely cost-driven choices.
