Survey: Poles highly supportive of nuclear energy, even in their own neighborhood
A nationwide survey commissioned by Poland’s Ministry of Energy shows overwhelming public support for nuclear power. 92% of respondents favor building a nuclear power plant in Poland, and nearly 80% would accept such a facility in their immediate area. Only 5% oppose nuclear energy outright. Support has remained above 90% since 2023, while opposition continues to decline.
Most respondents believe nuclear power would strengthen energy security (94%) and help combat climate change (88%). Support is higher among men and younger people, with notable regional growth in western and central Poland. Although self-assessed knowledge of nuclear energy is moderate, over 95% see the need for public information campaigns. The findings underscore strong social backing for Poland’s nuclear energy program.
