Nearly six in ten Poles believe school failed to prepare them for the labor market, according to an InterviewMe survey of 701 people. Only 35% said school prepared them well for work, while just 8% felt their education provided everything they later needed professionally. Respondents most often cited gaps in financial and administrative knowledge, career planning, stress management, and workplace skills. Many also had to change habits learned at school, including fear of mistakes and reluctance to seek help or take initiative.

Social projects and corporate mentoring programs are increasingly helping students gain practical experience, teamwork skills, and confidence before entering employment. Employers also play a role by addressing remaining skills gaps during onboarding.
