Swedish heat pump manufacturer to expand factory near Wrocław
Aira, part of Sweden’s Vargas Group, has raised €150 million from five investors, including Altor, Kinnevik, Temasek, Kallskär1, and Lingotto, to expand production capacity at its heat pump factory near Wrocław and develop new products. The facility, acquired from Volvo Buses in 2023, currently produces 250,000 units annually, with plans to double output. Aira sells mainly in Germany, Italy, and the UK, generating over €200 million in annual sales, 95% from its own products.
It employs 1,200 people, including 200 in Poland, and aims to operate in over 20 countries by 2030. The European heat pump market could exceed €150 billion by then. Polish market entry is planned but not yet scheduled.
