The Future of Offices Begins Here, Summary of Globalworth’s Real Estate Hackathon

The first edition of the Real Estate Hackathon powered by Globalworth confirmed that the commercial real estate sector is ready for meaningful, user-centric innovation. Technology has emerged as a powerful enabler of change, with participants showcasing how tools like AR, AI, and gamification can elevate both the efficiency and emotional appeal of office spaces. The winning project, "Growie," embodied this approach by merging sustainability, emotional connection, and digital interaction into a compelling, office-exclusive experience.

The hackathon was designed as a space for testing ideas, to see how technology can support the development of the commercial real estate sector and future workplaces.

“To achieve this, we must understand how technological development, new work models, and environmental challenges will shape the future of cities, buildings, and communities. The hackathon was a natural response – an invitation to co-create innovative solutions for the offices of tomorrow,” — Rafał Pomorski, Managing Director – Finance & Operations at Globalworth Poland and head of the jury.

A key takeaway was the growing importance of emotional well-being, community, and personal engagement in workplace design. Projects went beyond functional improvements, addressing how to make employees feel connected, inspired, and motivated to return to the office. This shift from purely technical solutions to holistic experiences marks an evolution in thinking within the industry.

The event highlighted the value of fresh, interdisciplinary perspectives. Some of the most innovative ideas came from teams outside the traditional real estate sphere, proving that openness to cross-industry collaboration can unlock transformative solutions.

Mentorship played a vital role in shaping the ideas into actionable concepts. Expert guidance helped participants refine their strategies and better align with market realities, legal considerations, and ESG goals. The event itself served as a clear signpost that the sector is moving from analog to digital thinking, with hackathons becoming a potential launchpad for implementable proptech solutions.

“Participants actively engaged with mentors, asked thoughtful questions, and were open to critical feedback. This raised the value of their projects and improved implementation chances. Hackathons are about creativity and speed – but also about aligning ideas with market needs. That’s why we ensured access to experts from multiple areas – from tech and AI, to real estate, business strategy, law, and ESG. This helped teams refine their solutions from many angles,”
Agnieszka Lewandowska, Senior Property Manager, Globalworth Poland, and mentor.

Ultimately, the hackathon demonstrated that real change is possible when technology, creativity, and sustainability intersect with real estate. The success of the event has sparked strong interest in making it a recurring fixture, with the hope that future editions will lead to real-world implementations and long-term innovation in the sector.

“This is just the beginning – we see huge value in initiatives like this and have received plenty of encouragement to make the hackathon a permanent fixture in the industry calendar. We’re convinced that future editions will lead to real implementations and inject innovation into the real estate sector,” — Rafał Pomorski
