TotalEnergies, through its subsidiary Polish Biogas Group (PGB), plans to invest up to PLN 2 billion in Poland's biogas sector, contingent on viable projects. PGB currently operates 20 biogas plants and has 50 additional projects under development. Building a 1 MW biogas plant costs PLN 32–39 million, depending on specifications. PGB aims to expand capacity to 2–3 MW per plant to better utilize Poland’s agricultural and food industry potential.
Poland, ranked 5th in the EU for biogas potential, trails behind Germany and France in installations. Regulatory and infrastructure improvements, such as integrating biogas into the gas network and streamlining administrative processes, are essential to accelerate the sector's growth. PGB expects biogas to play a critical role in energy stability and local economic development.
