A test Pendolino train traveled from Warsaw West to Zawiercie in 69 minutes, averaging 218 km/h and setting a long-distance speed record for Poland’s rail network. It covered the 224-km Central Rail Line in 57 minutes at an average of 236 km/h. The overnight run forms part of preparations to raise operating speeds to 250 km/h. Railway officials say testing of the GSM-R communications system is complete, while tests of new train control systems have taken several months. Further testing will continue for several more months.

Passenger services at up to 250 km/h are now expected to begin in September 2027, after the Infrastructure Ministry moved the target forward from December 2027.
