Nearly 39,000 companies in Poland’s transport, shipping, and logistics sector have close to PLN 3.4 bln in overdue payments, according to BIG InfoMonitor and BIK. The largest share comes from road freight, which accounts for over PLN 2.5 bln and includes more than 28,000 indebted firms.

The sector faces rising costs for fuel, energy, maintenance, and labor, while strong competition limits the ability to pass these costs on, squeezing margins. Demand, especially in international transport, has also weakened.

Late payments are a major issue, with 85% of firms affected. Payment delays create a domino effect across the supply chain, worsening liquidity and increasing debt across the entire sector.
