Tusk backs economic repolonization
Donald Tusk reaffirmed that Poland will continue pursuing the “repolonization” of its economy, stressing there is no reversal of this strategy. Speaking at Apator, he said the government aims to strengthen economic sovereignty by ensuring key decisions on production, trade, and supply chains are made domestically.
Tusk highlighted the role of the Ministry of State Assets and state-owned firms in supporting this shift. He added that Polish companies should be prioritized in public procurement, within EU rules, using available legal and institutional tools rather than mandates.
The policy is driven by rising geopolitical risks, including the war in Ukraine and Middle East tensions, which underscore the need for resilient supply chains, energy security, and domestic industrial capacity.
While reaffirming commitment to the EU single market, Tusk said Poland will actively support local businesses and producers as a strategic priority.
