Tusk: Poland could lose approximately PLN 8 bln from US tariffs

Poland may lose around PLN 8 billion due to new U.S. tariffs on European goods, according to Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The EU and U.S. recently signed a trade agreement imposing 15% tariffs on most EU exports, including automotive, semiconductor, and pharmaceutical products. Tusk noted that without the deal, losses could have reached PLN 15 billion, emphasizing that a difficult trade pact is preferable to a full trade war.
French Economy Minister Eric Lombard called the deal “bad but the least bad option.” Markets reacted negatively amid concerns over unrealistic EU commitments to buy $250 billion in U.S. energy annually and the broader economic impact, prompting a drop in the euro and European stocks.
