Tusk: we want to ensure that ammunition production is at a maximum in Poland

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, visiting Nitro-Chem in Bydgoszcz, pledged to maximize domestic ammunition production, secure licenses and technology, and prioritize orders for Polish firms. When his government took office in December 2023, Poland produced 5,000 155 mm shells annually; output is set to reach ~30,000 this year and nearly 200,000 within two years. Tusk criticized the heavy reliance on foreign defense suppliers, stressing that sovereignty requires local production of previously imported items.
Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk announced over PLN 100 mln in upcoming investments at Nitro-Chem, including three modern filling lines for 155 mm and 120 mm shells. By 2028, Poland will build three new ammunition plants, boosting defense capabilities and export potential.
