Unemployment rate in the euro area down to 7.2% in November

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area stood at 7.2 percent in November 2021, compared with 7.3 percent in the previous month, the EU's statistical office Eurostat reported. The market consensus was 7.2 percent.
In the entire European Union (EU) this indicator amounted to 6.5 percent in November against 6.7 percent a month earlier.
The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Poland was 3 percent in November 2021, compared with 3 percent in the previous month. A lower index than Poland was recorded by the Czech Republic (2.2 percent) and the Netherlands (2.7 percent).
Eurostat measures the harmonized unemployment rate as the percentage of unemployed people aged 15-74 who were able to take up employment in the next two weeks and who were actively looking for a job in the past weeks for all economically active people in the country.
