The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) issued 228 approvals for mergers and acquisitions in 2018, the highest in 11 years. According to the regulations, a transaction is subject to UOKiK approval if it involves companies with a total turnover exceeding €1 billion globally or €50 million in Poland.
Last year UOKiK also issued opinions on 390 cases investigated by the European Commission. Among others, EC asked UOKiK for the opinion on the merger of Siemens and Alstom.
