US and China announce settlement after another round of trade talks
The US government said it could refrain from further increases (without reducing the existing ones) and China has promised to double its purchases of soy and other foods in the United States. According to Donald Trump, the parties have also made progress on the key issue of technology transfer and access to the Chinese market.
However, experts believe that the agreement is temporary. So far, nothing has been formalized and no documents have been signed. Trump pointed out that a full agreement could be reached “soon” and that he would ensure the transfer of know-how to China in exchange for increasing US market share in the Middle Kingdom.
