US-led trade war will effect Polish clothing companies positively and negatively

A trade war triggered by the U.S. may impact Polish clothing companies like LPP, with both risks and opportunities. Recent U.S. tariffs—especially the 145% increase on Chinese goods—could lead to an influx of Chinese products into Europe, raising competition for local brands. LPP, which sources 33% of its goods from China, also imports from Bangladesh, India, and Poland, making it partly shielded from direct impacts. However, analysts warn that the overall uncertainty is damaging.

On the upside, weakened demand may create unused capacity in Asia, lowering production costs or delivery times. The EU’s response will be crucial—potentially tightening import rules and eliminating duty-free thresholds, offering some protection to European retailers.
