Von der Leyen favoring mechanism for maintaining rule of law in EU

The candidate likely to become the next head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke in the European Parliament on Wednesday where she argued in favor of creating a mechanism that would help maintain the rule of law in EU countries.
As explained by von der Leyen, such a solution is needed because, among other things, none of the member states is perfect. The mechanism would consist in a mutual comparison of the situation in the individual member states.
