Wages increased by 9.8% y/y, employment decreased by 0.6% y/y in Dec
In December 2024, the average gross salary in Polish enterprises (with over nine employees) increased by 9.8% y/y to PLN 8,821.25, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). However, employment in the sector decreased by 0.6% annually, totaling 6.45 million jobs.
The wage growth was slightly below the market consensus of 11.2%, while the employment decline aligned closely with expectations of a 0.5% drop. These figures reflect a mixed economic environment, with rising wages potentially influenced by inflation or labor market adjustments, alongside a slight contraction in workforce levels.
