Wolkswagen expanding factory in Wielkopolska with new model
Volkswagen Poznań has begun expanding its Września plant with two new production halls that will manufacture the next-generation electric eCrafter. The investment, valued at PLN 1.5 billion, includes a 35,000 m² hall for the vehicle’s chassis platform with 150 robots and a 24,000 m² battery-storage and logistics facility. Construction is expected to finish in mid-2027. The project supports Volkswagen’s strategy to electrify its commercial-vehicle lineup, with the Września factory having already produced more than 700,000 vehicles in its first decade.
Government officials highlighted Volkswagen Poznań’s role as Wielkopolska’s largest employer, sourcing most components locally. The plant is known for advanced automation, AI-based quality systems and a large solar farm that makes it energy-self-sufficient on sunny days.
