ZUS Rejects Over 37% of Disability Pension Applications

According to data from Poland’s Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), the number of applications for disability pensions due to incapacity for work dropped by just under 1 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year. The highest number of cases was recorded in the Silesian, Masovian, and Greater Poland voivodeships.
In total, ZUS issued over 46,000 positive decisions granting disability pensions last year, while more than 27,000 applications were denied, accounting for 37.1 percent of all decisions.
Experts point out that this rejection rate remains relatively high. Many individuals challenge these outcomes in court, seeking to have their rights upheld through legal proceedings.
