The Senate bill provides for the Polish Tourism Voucher to go to seniors. This would mean that 9 million pensioners and disability pensioners would get PLN 500 each to spend on vacations. The Sejm has yet to agree to it.

Polish Tourist Voucher for Seniors - a project under this name was prepared in the Senate. It is to be an equivalent of a holiday subsidy for pensioners, similar to the current subsidy for children.

The bill was eventually signed by 23 senators. Further work is supervised by Marek Borowski, authorized by the senators. On Wednesday the Senate’s Legislative Committee supported the draft 500+ for seniors.

As estimated by the authors of the draft, the cost of the benefit will not exceed 1.2 billion PLN. However, this is an optimistic version of the budget, which predicts that 25% of 9 million pensioners will use the voucher. However, the idea is not only about seniors.

As the project’s authors justify, “broadening the scope of beneficiaries of the voucher would constitute significant financial support for the Polish tourism sector, which has been affected by the socio-economic consequences of COVID-19.

The Senate by acclamation (no one was against) passed the bill extending the travel vouchers to pensioners. However, the senators had already made a similar attempt a year ago but failed because the Sejm rejected their proposal.
