Bank Pocztowy's net profit plunges
Bank Pocztowy’s net profit fell by more than one-third y/y to PLN 65.2 mln in the first half of 2026, pressured by lower interest rates and a higher corporate tax rate for banks. Operating income declined more than 7% to PLN 268.6 mln, while net interest income fell 4% and fee income dropped 23%. The bank reported stronger consumer lending, with cash loan sales rising more than 50% y/y after introducing a fully automated credit process.
Mortgage lending remained restricted because of its high capital requirements. Credit quality improved, with the NPL ratio falling to 5.3% and credit-loss provisions down 60% y/y. Operating costs, however, rose nearly 8%.
