Banks leaders of growth on WSE
The Warsaw Stock Exchange ended Friday, August 14, 2026, on a stronger note, with most major stocks gaining and banks leading the market. mBank was the top performer, rising 1.81%, followed by Bank Pekao at 1.65%, PKO BP at 1.52% and Erste Bank at 1.41%. PZU, LPP, Orlen, Alior Bank, CD Projekt, Grupa Kęty and Budimex also advanced. Energy companies were among the weakest performers. PGE fell 1.46%, making it the biggest decliner among the 20 stocks analyzed, while Tauron dropped 1.22%. Modivo, KGHM, Dino Polska and Pepco also lost ground.
Overall, buyers dominated the session, with financial stocks outperforming and energy shares facing the strongest selling pressure.
