Polish stocks fell broadly on Oct. 1, giving the WIG20 and WIG indexes their steepest losses since Aug. 27. The WIG20 dropped 1.9% to 4,102 points, while the WIG lost 1.6%. Seventeen of the 20 blue chips declined, and nearly 60% of listed stocks finished lower. Banks and Allegro were among the weakest, though their losses stayed below 4%. PKP Cargo was a standout, rising nearly 7% after reporting second-quarter net profit above PLN 150 million.

The rail operator earned almost PLN 118 million in the first half, versus a PLN 17.9 million net loss in the same period of 2025. Despite the pullback, the indexes remained about 30% higher year to date.
