Biedronka builds capacity
Biedronka has opened its 18th distribution center in Poland, this time in Sokołów Małopolski, strengthening the retailer’s logistics network in the south-east of the country. The facility is expected to create around 500 jobs and serve up to 200 stores in the region. According to the company, as many as 6,500 pallets may leave the center each day, while the new location should shorten delivery routes across the chain by more than 980,000 km annually.
The investment underlines how Poland’s largest food retailers are still expanding logistics capacity despite margin pressure, wage growth and intense competition. For suppliers, it also means faster access to one of the country’s most important retail networks.
