BLIK service gains popularity
In the second quarter of 2019, BLIK users completed almost 50 million transactions. During the first half of the year, nearly 90 million of such transactions were completed which equals the number of all the BLIK transactions made in 2018, the system’s operator, the Polish Standard for Payments, announced.
Nearly 35 million transactions were completed with online purchases (over 70 percent of all the transactions). ATM withdrawals is the second most frequent method of using BLIK, making up 12 percent (6 million) of all the transactions. Payments with the use of POS terminals amounted to 5 million. In addition to that, users sent 3.6 million BLIK transfers to mobile phones.
