Britain seeks deeper economic ties with Poland
Britain is seeking closer economic ties with Poland as London pushes for a broader reset in relations with the European Union. UK Trade Minister Anas Sarwar met Polish government representatives to discuss infrastructure projects and industrial cooperation, while arguing that British companies should remain eligible under emerging European rules favoring products and suppliers considered “Made in Europe.”
Annual trade between Poland and the United Kingdom reached GBP 33.9 billion through the first quarter of 2026, up nearly 5 percent from a year earlier. Poland runs a trade surplus with Britain, exporting products including meat, tobacco goods and industrial machinery, as well as business services. Sarwar said Poland could play a wider role in strengthening UK-EU economic relations as both sides reassess post-Brexit cooperation. Talks covered infrastructure, industrial cooperation and other sectors where both governments see scope for deeper bilateral investment.
