Chinese cars gain in Polish market with more than 312,000 passenger cars
New vehicle registrations in Poland increased across all major segments in H1 2026, according to KPMG and the Polish Automotive Industry Association. Passenger-car registrations rose nearly 10% y/y to 312,033, while commercial vehicle registrations increased 20% and bus registrations jumped 78%.
Toyota remained the leading passenger-car brand, followed by Skoda and Volkswagen. Chinese brands continued to gain ground, increasing their market share from 5.82% in H1 2025 to 12.69% a year later.
Registrations of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 200,700. Plug-in hybrid registrations nearly doubled, rising 97.3% y/y, while battery-electric registrations increased 14.6%.
Despite stronger demand, passenger-car production in Poland fell 14% y/y to 134,800 units. The value of automotive industry output declined 0.2% to PLN 117.6 bln.
