Cyfrowy Polsat unveils major strategic overhaul
Cyfrowy Polsat announced a new strategy on October 29, outlining asset disposals and substantial investment as the media and telecommunications group reshapes its business. The plan follows a resolution of the Solorz family's ownership dispute and the appointment of Piotr Żak to lead the group's key companies. Management says the priority is sustainable long-term value, even if that means weaker financial performance in the near term. Investors reacted sharply and immediately: shares dropped more than 10 percent shortly after the announcement and the intraday decline later exceeded 15 percent.
The company expects pressure on earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization through 2029 as it modernizes its network and adjusts its portfolio. The greatest investment-related impact is expected in 2027. Management hopes to restore the capacity to pay dividends by 2030, with stronger returns anticipated after the current transformation period.
