Deadline for submitting declarations on housing containing asbestos is 31 January
Local authorities in Poland are reminding property owners that the deadline to submit declarations on asbestos-containing materials is 31 January 2026. The obligation applies to both individuals and legal entities and stems from regulations in force since 2010. Declarations must be filed with the local municipality by private owners or with the regional authority by businesses, either in person, by mail, or electronically. Failure to report asbestos can result in fines ranging from PLN 10,000 to PLN 20,000. Declarations are required even if asbestos has already been removed but was not previously reported.
Importantly, many municipalities offer subsidies — sometimes covering up to 100% of costs — for professional asbestos removal, which must be carried out only by licensed companies due to serious health risks.
