Employers will be able to check insurance certificates with ZUS online
Employers in Poland can now verify the authenticity of employment record certificates issued by the Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych (ZUS) through a new online service. The tool allows quick validation of documents used to calculate work seniority.
This follows labor law changes effective from January 2026, which expand recognized employment periods to include civil contracts and self-employment. Employees can request certificates digitally, and employers can check them via the eZUS platform.
The system helps prevent fraud and simplifies verification. If a document is invalid, employees must clarify it with ZUS. Workers have 24 months to submit documents confirming additional work periods.
In Q1 2026, ZUS received 587,000 applications and issued nearly 1 million certificates, reflecting strong demand for the new system.
