Fewer cars come from Polish factories
Poland produced just 101,000 passenger cars with combustion engines in 2025, down 53% y/y and the lowest output since the early 1970s. Rising production costs and Chinese competition, with Chinese vehicles reportedly 30% cheaper, are pressuring an automotive sector that contributes about 8% of GDP and PLN 105 bln in annual exports.
The industry coalition MotoryzacjaPL’s KOMPAS 2035 plan targets annual production of 1 mln vehicles, 90% zero-emission, 300,000 jobs, PLN 150 bln in exports, and 150 GWh of battery capacity by 2035. It calls for government-backed R&D, stronger local suppliers, affordable energy, and workforce training. EV sales fell nearly 22% y/y in September, with electric cars accounting for 6.1% of new registrations.
