Foreign investors' share on the WSE hit a record in 2022

In 2022, domestic individual investors accounted for 17 percent of turnover on the WSE's main stock market (-5 pp. y/y), while domestic institutional investors accounted for 19 percent (-2 pp. y/y). The share of foreign investors rose 7 pp. to 64 percent, a historic high.
Domestic individual investors continued to lead the NewConnect market, with a share of 84 percent (-4 pp. y/y). The share of domestic institutional investors increased to 11 percent (+4 pp. y/y). The share of foreign investors fell to 5 percent (-1 pp. y/y).
Foreign investors played the largest role in the futures market in 2022 for the first time. Their share amounted to 38 percent (+11 pp. y/y). The share of individual investors increased by 3 pp. y/y to 35 percent, and institutional investors fell by 14 pp. y/y to 27 percent.
