Foreigners cannot fill all the gaps in the Polish labor market
The demand for employees in 2022 will be at a record level – such a conclusion results from the data of the VII Occupation Barometer – a study commissioned by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy.
For the first time in seven years, the Barometer does not include occupations with a surplus of supply – neither in the scale of the entire country nor in individual regions.
Part of the labor demand is currently covered by foreigners. Most often they work in logistics and production in positions that do not require special qualifications.
"Among the scarce professions, we can see the profession of a warehouseman. The biggest shortages are noted in large warehouse halls serving well-known brands of the clothing industry, but also other companies that sell their goods via the Internet. The demand for employees in warehouses is seasonal – it depends on the marketing calendar: introducing new collections, previous sales, Black Friday actions, upcoming holidays. In the gaps between the peaks of the seasons, we still observe relatively high demand for employees," Damian Guzman, deputy general director of Gremi Personal, an international employment agency with branches all over Poland, said.
Unfortunately, not all staff shortages can be easily filled with employees from abroad.
"Highly qualified workers are hard to find in any industry. When it comes to specialist professions – whether welders or carpenters, teachers, doctors, cooks, accountants – we have a general problem of the lack of qualified people on the market concerning the demand," Damian Guzman noticed.
