Hyundai seeking claims against Grupa Azoty over Polimery Police project for PLN 1.98 bln
The dispute over the Polimery (polymer) Police project is intensifying. Hyundai Engineering has initiated arbitration against Poland’s Polyolefins Nitrogen Group (GAP) at the International Arbitration Center in Vienna, seeking claims totaling PLN 1.98 billion. The conflict stems from delays and cost overruns in a propylene and polypropylene plant built for a GAP entity majority-owned by Grupa Azoty. Originally budgeted at PLN 5 billion, the project ultimately cost about PLN 7.5 billion and was only conditionally accepted in 2024.
Both sides terminated the EPC contract in 2025 and accuse each other of breaches. The case now hinges on arbitration, while GAP undergoes restructuring amid interest from Orlen.
