KSeF adding to problems for sole proprietors
Poland’s mandatory National e-Invoicing System (KSeF) is reshaping the freelance market, increasing pressure on freelancers to provide clear and professional billing processes. According to Freelancehunt, only 37.9% of freelancers operate as registered sole proprietors, even though many work with companies that now expect fast, compliant invoicing. Since April 2026, more businesses have been required to use KSeF, making predictable billing an increasingly important factor in choosing contractors.
Experts warn that freelancers may lose projects not because of weaker skills, but because clients prefer contractors with simpler and more reliable settlement models. Nearly 43% of freelancers are unfamiliar with legal alternatives to operating a business. As freelance work becomes more professionalized, invoicing and formal compliance are becoming part of a freelancer’s competitive advantage.
