On March 26, in Tricity and 11 nearby municipalities, the public Metropolitan Bicycle System Mevo will be launched. Over 1200 electric bikes will be available at 660 stations. Ultimately, there will be over 4,000 vehicles.
Mevo will be Europe's largest public bicycle system, consisting entirely of electrically assisted bicycles, commented Jarosław Maciejewski, communication specialist for the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area. Outside Tricity, the bicycles will be available in Tczew, Pruszcz Gdański, Rumia, Reda, Puck, Władysławowo, Żukowo, Kartuzy, Stężyca, Somonino, and Sierakowice. The rent will cost PLN 6 per hour or PLN 0,10 per minute. For those who plan to use the bike regularly, the system will provide attractive monthly (at PLN 10) or yearly (at PLN 100) plans for 90 minutes of cycling each day.
