Ocean Winds starts Baltic service base
Ocean Winds has started construction of an operations and maintenance base in Władysławowo for its BC-Wind offshore wind project. The foundation ceremony was held September 23. Przembud Gdańsk is general contractor, while Haskoning Polska has supported design and permitting. The 1,200-square-meter building will include offices, staff facilities, warehousing, operational rooms and a control center, and is expected to create around 30 jobs.
The base is designed to support BC-Wind for about 30 years. Located 37 kilometers from the wind farm, it should allow crew transfers in about 70 minutes. BC-Wind is Ocean Winds’ first Baltic project and is planned with 26 Siemens Gamesa turbines with total capacity of up to 390 MW. The developer estimates annual output will be sufficient to cover electricity demand for nearly 500,000 Polish households, and the base will support local firms and maritime-sector skills development.
