In May 2021 only half of the population of the European Union will be vaccinated against the coronavirus. In connection with the progress of work on vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, analysts from the global investment bank Goldman Sachs have developed an estimated schedule for their distribution.
GS took into account several factors in its forecasts. One of them is the production capacity of the most advanced pharmaceutical companies in their work on the vaccine: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Novavax, and Johnson & Johnson.
Other analyzed factors include distribution opportunities and demand for the vaccine in individual countries. Goldman Sachs experts believe that the vaccination process of the population will be implemented the fastest in the United States.
From mid-December, the first available doses are expected to reach high-risk groups, which is expected to bring "significant public health benefits" already visible in the first quarter of next year.
However, according to the bank, large-scale vaccination will only be possible in April 2021.
