Only 21.1% of Polish drivers comply with speed limits
Research by the Instytut Transportu Samochodowego shows that 99.8 percent of Polish drivers are sober, placing Poland among EU leaders in this area. Seatbelt use is also high at 97.2 percent. However, speeding remains a major issue, with only 21.1 percent of drivers obeying limits in urban areas and just 40 percent overall complying with speed rules.
Child safety is another concern, as many car seats are used incorrectly. Only about one in four cyclists wears a helmet. While phone use while driving has declined, new risks from in car systems are emerging.
Overall, Poland shows strong progress in some areas but remains weak on speed discipline, which continues to threaten road safety.
