Orlen breaks records
Orlen’s market capitalization exceeded PLN 180 billion for the first time during Thursday trading, underlining the energy group’s growing weight on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The milestone followed another rise in the company’s share price and reflected investor confidence in its cash generation, strategic investments and dominant position across Poland’s fuel, refining and energy markets.
Orlen has benefited from elevated commodity prices and its expanded scale following earlier mergers with Lotos and PGNiG. Nevertheless, the valuation also exposes shareholders to geopolitical volatility, changing refining margins and the enormous capital requirements of Poland’s energy transition. The state-controlled company is expected to play a central role in offshore wind, gas infrastructure, power generation and potentially nuclear-energy development.
