Orlen outpacing Russian oil giants Gazprom and Lukoil in stock market value
Orlen’s market value has surpassed that of Russia’s Gazprom and Lukoil, and it may soon overtake Rosneft as well. According to June 5 figures, Orlen’s capitalization reached about PLN 167.7 bln, compared with Gazprom’s PLN 159 bln and Lukoil’s PLN 157 bln. Rosneft remains ahead at roughly PLN 184.2 bln, leaving a gap of less than PLN 17 bln. The article presents this as evidence of Orlen’s rapid rise and Russia’s economic decline and isolation. Gazprom has fallen sharply because of reduced exports to Europe and restrictions on foreign investors, while Lukoil faces U.S. sanctions.
Orlen’s shares have doubled over the past year, rising from PLN 73.10 to PLN 144.48.
