Polish Nuclear Power Plants (PEJ) remains committed to bringing the first unit of Poland’s Choczewo nuclear plant online in 2036, despite ongoing negotiations over the key EPC contract with the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium. PEJ CEO Marek Woszczyk said talks have advanced but major commercial issues remain unresolved, with both sides aiming to finalize the agreement by the end of 2026. Work is continuing under an interim EDA++ agreement, although Woszczyk stressed this cannot be extended indefinitely.

The project will comprise three AP1000 units scheduled for 2036-2038. PEJ is also working with Poland’s nuclear regulator on a construction permit application exceeding 40,000 pages and preparing for Poland’s planned second nuclear power plant.
