Heating a home with a pellet boiler is currently one of the most expensive options, second only to oil heating. According to the Polski Alarm Smogowy, rising pellet prices have pushed costs up by 39%.

For a typical 150 sqm house with average insulation, annual heating and hot water costs exceed PLN 10,300 when using pellets. By comparison, gas heating costs over PLN 8,800, while the cheapest option is a ground-source heat pump with underfloor heating, costing around PLN 4,700–5,500 per year.

Although actual costs depend on insulation and energy use, pellet heating is now among the least economical choices, mainly due to high fuel prices.
