PERN starts transfer of oil from Poland into Germany
Polish pipeline operator PERN has begun transporting crude oil delivered by sea to Gdańsk’s Naftoport for the PCK refinery in Schwedt, Germany. The shipment, imported from South America by Unimot Paliwa, is being moved through PERN’s pipeline infrastructure. The delivery follows the suspension of Kazakh oil flows to Germany through the Druzhba pipeline on May 1. PERN says it can rapidly supply the Schwedt refinery with about 2 mln tons of crude annually via Gdańsk. Unimot said the operation strengthens fuel security in eastern Germany and western Poland while demonstrating the growing regional importance of Polish maritime and pipeline infrastructure.
