PIE: Accelerated truck electrification would create up to 21,000 additional jobs

Accelerated electrification of Poland's heavy transport sector could create 21,000 more jobs by 2035 than in the slow electrification scenario while maintaining the status quo, according to the report "Electrification of the Heavy Road Transport Sector," created by the Polish Economic Institute (PIE) in cooperation with the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA).
"Electrification of heavy road transport will be economically beneficial. The report compiled by PIE shows that fleet electrification may allow Poland to increase its share in the heavy transport sector. Poland's growing share of the EU trucking market and the increasing number of trucks will lead to more jobs in this sector. Gradual or accelerated electrification would increase employment at the expense of other countries, mainly Germany, by 10,100 or 20,900, respectively, by 2035, compared to a scenario of maintaining the current electrification rate," the report said.
