PM: vetoed bill on crypto assets will be sent to Sejm again
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the government will immediately resend the crypto-assets bill to the Sejm after President Karol Nawrocki vetoed it, calling the decision a serious mistake. Tusk argued the law is essential for protecting consumers, noting that 600,000 Poles have been defrauded in the crypto market. He asked the finance minister and security agencies to brief the president on the risks created by the veto and to outline the broader context, including investigations and possible lobbying.
Nawrocki defended the veto, saying the law threatens freedoms, overregulates the sector and could hurt small firms. The bill was designed to implement EU MiCA rules and grant the KNF oversight of crypto-asset activity.
